Train Sim World is back!
The good news for lovers of Train Sim World 4 is that they may currently upgrade for free. For the purposes of this review, I have included the Deluxe Pack, which contains three new routes. A 50-mile route connects London and Milton Keynes via the West Coast Mainline. There is the beautiful San Bernardino line, which runs 57 miles from Los Angeles to San Bernardino. Finally, the Kinzigtalbahn route from Frankfurt to Fulda spans 103 kilometers. There are numerous new trains on these lines, some of which you may be familiar with. Even though I’ve played every Train Sim World game before, I’m still a little confused.
There is a lot to learn from the lengthy tutorials, but these are also quite crucial; at least for me, because I forget everything I’ve learned every time a new game comes out.
Aside from the large number of scenarios and timetables to deal with, the new features in Train Sim World 5 are fairly extensive. They take the shape of the Conductor Mode, in which you let someone else drive while you wander the train, checking tickets, annoying people, and sorting bags. This is a great mode that adds something unique to the brand. However, it is insufficient to divert your attention away from your primary responsibility of driving trains.
The next feature is route hopping, which allows you to connect previously used routes (assuming they are in a comparable place) and play through them rather than returning to the home screen. There is a live map and fast travel sections that allow you to get to different destinations on the map quickly.
As detailed as ever!
I think the new routes in Train Sim World 5 are fantastic and provide something unique, catering to a variety of tastes. I knew the West Coast Mainline route well, so it was interesting to see it from a fresh perspective. The San Bernardino line is popular because of its unique scenery and many problems on the trains and track. And Germany is amazing, with its high-speed trains and futuristic dashboards.
There appear to be numerous activities with TSW5 that have a high replay value, ranging from driving trains to developing your own and sharing them with the online community. However, I must admit that the options might be somewhat complex at times.
My previous criticisms, particularly in some of the franchise’s early games, were directed at the passengers. There were too many twins or triplets sitting in the same carriage. The passengers now appear to be more diverse, but it also feels considerably busier, as stations should be. Train Sim World 5 is full of action and energy, adding to the game’s authentic sense.
Dovetail – on top of their game.
The visuals also feel improved, with a lighting upgrade that makes the game practically photorealistic at moments. Trains and interiors look fantastic, and switching to the outside camera is usually a pleasant experience as you watch the world go by. Train Sim World 5’s overall presentation is excellent and continues to improve, not to mention the incredible weather effects.
There is no disputing that Dovetail Games are the experts of this genre, and while some may wonder why we need a new game so frequently, I believe they are continually improving the franchise with each step. This time around, Train Sim World 5 has Conductor Mode and route hopping.
