I do not condone breaking the law. However, whenever I have the opportunity to be a little naughty in the virtual world, I can’t help but become carried away. I recently played Thief Simulator 2 and enjoyed hiding in the shadows. As a result, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play Bandit Knight. Now, the two games are very distinct, with the only similarities being sticky fingers and mischievous larceny.
Spiral Up Games published this 2.5D pixelated adventure title produced by Game Float. Furthermore, it is a single-player game set in a big globe. If you’re a Steam Deck user, you’ll be pleased to know that this works flawlessly. Furthermore, this includes support for gamepads. I’ve only got a chance to look at the demo version, but it was enough to have me hooked and love every minute.

Bandit Knight focuses on the life of a thief.
Being a thief is a nasty and disreputable career. These crafty folks lurk in the shadows, preparing to strike. Furthermore, they lack honor and are unconcerned about who they damage as they become wealthy. However, on sometimes, these lawbreakers do good. This is precisely what happens in Bandit Knight! As the thief moves through diverse locales, they seize the opportunity to right certain wrongs. This was fantastic because the “bosses” had no idea what was going on, and you were able to enhance both your talents and your financial balance.
The game revolves around a minor criminal who wants to prove themselves. They’ve joined a thief clan in the hopes of becoming wealthy. As they travel through each opulent neighborhood, they must steal as much treasure as possible. Furthermore, players will discover magical artifacts that will help them enhance their skills and unlock new abilities. This was wonderful because each stage appears to become more difficult. As a result, boosting your fundamental talents and upgrading your ability to steal stuff without being detected is critical.

A fun first chapter.
The demo lets you glance at the first chapter. This action-packed level is replete with gold, jewelry, and numerous hidden areas. It is your task to break glass boxes and steal as many items as possible. However, if you are caught pickpocketing or spotted by the guards, you will have a tough time completing your task. I enjoyed the gradual difficulty curve, which rewarded you for taking your time and hiding in the shadows.
Because I could repeat the level as many times as I wanted, I tried a variety of tactics. First, I utilized stealth, which was amazing. It was tremendous fun to knock out the guards and grab things while dodging capture. However, bum-rushing every encounter and utilizing raw force proved equally effective. As a result, you can select the style that best suits your needs.
Unlocking each artifact and upgrading your hero will be important aspects of Bandit Knight. I feel this will improve your gameplay style, and as the levels progress, it will become a determining factor in success and failure. Though I had limited insight into how this will play out, I appreciated the small parts I saw and can’t wait to see how it affects the later game.
Bandit Knight looks great.
I enjoy pixelated games. Though they do not punish current systems, I enjoy the retro feel. Bandit Knight performs an excellent job with level design and character models. Furthermore, the animation was fluid, and I enjoyed the degree of detail. The trailer emphasizes the diverse stage design, and it will be intriguing to visit the other exciting locations.
The audio was excellent. The opening stage has a majestic and affluent feel. As a result, the music captured this well. There is also a sense of drama and excitement as you slip through each room. Furthermore, the sound effects are entertaining, and I really enjoyed the cracking of glass and the clunk of each opened door.

Excellent controls.
I tested this on both the Steam Deck and the PC. I used a gamepad, a mouse, and a keyboard, and it worked perfectly with all of them. I was no need to change any settings while playing on Steam Deck, and it worked right away. This was convenient for me because I am lazy and dislike wasting time fiddling with my controls. When I used the gamepad, the movement felt fluid, and the inputs were responsive and simple to understand.
The replay value and longevity are limited in this demo edition. Each stage appears to have a lot of collectibles to find, which should compel you to return. Along with this, there are numerous artifacts to steal and a variety of talents to enhance. As a result, I can see this compelling you to play it repeatedly.
