Golden Lap is as straightforward as it is addictive. This sporting activity gets under your skin and is difficult to put down. Though its simplistic appearance may not wow you, the action and moreish concept will keep you coming back for more. I’ve been following Formula One for years, but I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard fan. However, I couldn’t help but smile as my plans and predictions went tragically wrong in this management simulation exercise.
This F1 management simulation game was created by Strelka Games and published by Funselektor Labs Inc. Furthermore, it is a single-player game that requires a keen eye for detail and a lot of luck. Failure and pain are unavoidable, no of how accurate you are. I should know; I lost two drivers within the same season. Unfortunately, Death is a bitch and very much alive in this retro racing game.

Golden Lap allows you to write the plot.
In typical racing form, you can support an underdog cause or stay with the tried-and-true worldwide superstars. You can also strive to improve a back runner or continue the festivities with the top team on the grid. Whatever decision you choose, the game will not allow you to win easy. Weather, automobile parts, a lack of strategy, and other factors all stand in the way of triumph.
Golden Lap should’ve been quite dull. You watch your cars race around a 2D track while you plan your strategy. However, I was astounded by the level of suspense and drama as each race progressed. Furthermore, I enjoyed pushing underdog drivers and teams to the top of the leaderboard with surprise podium finishes and an unusual racing strategy.

The 1970s have never been better.
The action takes place in the seventies. Unfortunately, automotive technology isn’t perfect, and safety can be a bit shaky. As a result, crashes and deaths are common. Furthermore, weather predictions are not always accurate, and partying, illness, and disputes have a greater impact on your squad than you would like. These fundamental concepts were responsible for Golden Lap’s surprising and exciting gameplay.
At the beginning of the season, you must select your team, drivers, and race personnel. This sounds simple, but you have a limited budget. As a result, do you hire the best drivers but the worst engineers, or do you trust Mr. Joe Average to complete the task in the best vehicle? Regardless, it is your obligation to balance the accounts and satisfy your sponsors. If you can keep the sponsors satisfied, your money account will prosper as well.
Money makes the world go round, and without it, you would not be able to win races. Improving your engine, handling, or chassis is critical if you want a competitive advantage. Furthermore, fine-tuning your automobile throughout qualifying can provide you with a significant edge. These modifications do not come lightly, and if you bet too much, you can undo your work. As a result, you must understand when to stop messing around and appreciate your temporary benefits.
Golden Lap has a wonderful classic style.
If you intend to invest, do not expect to be blown away by the images. The primitive approach is appealing but outmoded. The drivers and backroom workers have a cartoonish look. Furthermore, the non-racing components are colorful but lack detail. This wasn’t an issue because I preferred the retro approach. The racing will not blow you away either. The 2D map is easy to see, and the simple icons glide nicely around the route. What I did admire was the shifting weather fronts. The thick clouds created a sense of reality and broke up the repeated imagery.
The soundtrack does little to update this title. The fundamental sound effects are both effective and loud. The boom of each engine is gloriously piercing, and the sound of each crash is unpleasant to hear. Furthermore, there are several distinct audio tones when pit stops and other important racing features occur. This was ideal since it allowed you to manage the action while maintaining the sense of drama.

Excellent controls.
Golden Lap is surprisingly in-depth for such a simple affair. It may have been a nightmare to play. Fortunately, the user interface is good, and learning the basics was simple. Once you’ve completed your first race, you don’t have to ponder or worry about what you are doing. As a result, this game is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels.
Trying to win every race in the 1970s is no easy undertaking. To accomplish this, you must be both cruel and lucky. With so many races available and so many variables that can affect your strategy, this game will keep you busy. I chose to approach it leisurely, although serious racing fans may play this for hours without becoming bored.
Golden Lap is an excellent indie game.
The developers did an excellent job with this racing simulator. It’s simple, addictive, and sometimes harsh. Yes, the concept of luck can turn off some people, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Even though it broke my heart on several occasions, I couldn’t help but return for more. This is an addictive game that will keep you hooked even if you only play it sometimes. As a result, it is excellent, and I highly recommend purchasing it here! Can you become the best racing team from the 1970s? Choose your squad, review the form, and pray that luck and the weather are on your side.
